Love your body, its the only one you have
Over the last few months I have found myself becoming very health conscious when it comes to food. And its not only me, a lot of people around me are doing the same. As a lover of cooking, this really puts a spanner in the works when making everyday meals for my family.
I have now ditched the lasagne and steaks for healthy stir fries, fish and lean meats. The tuna and mayo sandwiches I once loved having for lunch have been “tamed down” to now exclude the mayo.
Even over Christmas, which is the time when I would normally indulge in puddings, I decided to back away from the trifle and opt for a fruit salad instead. As boring as this may sound, while I watched my friends gain the usual weight (which everyone does) over Christmas, I lost 3kg.
I always thought I was a healthy eater, but now I really see what they mean when gym trainers tell you that 90% of weight loss comes from what you eat, or should I say what you don’t eat.
The mayo and ketchup on the side, or the creamy salad dressing, the few glasses of wine or the small bowl of ice-cream after dinner, it ALL ads up. All of it. So now I am on a mission. I want to find healthy recipes that taste heavenly but are easy on the digestive system and good for the hips. So all I can say is…watch this space.
